Organko Essential Twin Pack Bokashi Bin with 1kg Bokashi

Great for any household striving to reduce its food waste to landfill volume.

Transform all your food waste into a nutrient-rich compost with the Skaza 15.3 litre Bokashi Organko Essential Twin Pack.

Made from post-consumer recycled plastics, this air-tight bokashi bin uses effective microorganisms to create a first-class pre-compost that improves plant growth and health without artificial fertilizers.

The process is simple;

  1. Add your food waste to the Bokashi Bin each day
  2. Add Bokashi Bran each time
  3. Once full, leave the contents to work its magic for two weeks - NO PEAKING!
  4. During this time, you can drain off the liquid which is an amazing by-product full of goodness for your plants and soil
  5. While the 1st bin is sealed, move on to the 2nd Bokashi Bin to add your daily scraps to
  6. After two weeks, the contents are ready to transfer to your compost bin or dig into the soil.
  7. At this point, it still looks food waste but we call this pre-compost. Once added to the compost or soil, it breaks down really quickly and nourishes the surrounding earth or compost.
  8. It's a continuous cycle and once you've found your rhythm, you should be able to transform all of your food waste into a natural fertiliser for your garden!

Frequently asked questions

Bokashi bins can accommodate all organic kitchen scraps (including meat, fish and dairy products). The addition of Bokashi microbes begins the process of fermentation anaerobically (without oxygen) and minimizes any unpleasant odours. Emptying is only necessary once the unit is filled and has been left sealed to ferment for around three weeks.
The kitchen caddy on the other hand has to be emptied regularly into a Green Johanna, Green Cone, or Compost Tumbler, where the breakdown process will take place aerobically.

A Bokashi bin is designed to collect kitchen scraps and initiate the breakdown of organic material.
A compost bin or tumbler is primarily used to convert kitchen and garden waste into usable compost.
If you live in a flat and don’t have a garden, a Bokashi bucket would be adequate, provided you have access to land where you can bury the fermented scraps. Wormeries can also be used for converting many kitchen scraps (not meat, fish and dairy products) into useful organic products and liquid fertiliser.
We find that the best set-up (room and garden permitting) involves using both a Bokashi system in conjunction with an outdoor bin.
