Frequently asked questions

No. The unit is fully enclosed so the controlled heat together with the airflow during the cycle prevents odours.

There is a gentle sound of it working but they are no louder than a dishwasher. Most people run the cycle in the evening or overnight without issue - we run ours here in the office while we're working!

Typically around 4-8 hours but this depends on the waste you add. Auto cycle may take up to 12 hours.

They use approximately 0.7 kWh per cycle which is similar to a standard dishwasher cycle.

Most food waste can be added:
• Fruit and vegetable scraps
• Coffee grounds
• Eggshells
• Meat and fish
• Dairy
• Small bones
• Compostable packaging

Avoid hard bones, liquids on their own and excessive amounts of dairy.

Once processed, the waste becomes a dry, soil-like mix. And because it’s stabilised during the drying process, it won't smell or attract pests.

You can then use it in various ways:
• Add it to garden soil
• Mix into planters
• Add to your compost bin
• Add it to your council food waste collection - you'll have much less volume

Kompo stabilises and dehydrates food waste to create a dry Kompo mix.

Traditional composting takes months but the Kompo accelerates the first 2 stages of the composting process in hours, reducing volume and allows you to compost more food waste types which you wouldn't usually.

No, your Kompo is ready to use. Simply unbox it, add the charcoal, plug in and away you go!
